Participation in the Wind Ensemble requires an audition at the start of the Fall semester. All William & Mary students are eligible to audition and once accepted, will be able to register for their respective ensemble(s) in PATH. Members are expected to commit to the ensemble for both the Fall and Spring semesters.
Audition Structure
Auditions for the W&M Wind Ensemble will take place August 27-30, 2025 in the Music Arts Center. The audition consists of the following:
- A short (1-2 minutes) lyrical piece (can be an etude or an excerpt from a concerto or ensemble music)
- Prepared Excerpt (see below). Prepare the measures marked in red brackets. Percussionists, choose either Timpani, Snare drum, or Mallets.
- Sightreading
